For Business

Grants and Funding for Regional SA Businesses

There’s funding out there for your business. The trick is knowing where to look.

Grants close without notice. Programs come and go. And most regional businesses find out about them too late – or not at all.

We help businesses across the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island find the right funding, get ready to apply, and put their best case forward.

Find a Grant

Start here: Hills and Coast Grant Finder

The Hills and Coast Grant Finder is a free, one-stop portal that pulls together grants from councils, state and federal government – all in one place. Register once and set up automated alerts based on your industry, your keywords, and what your business actually needs.

It’s free. It’s easy. And it means you’ll never be last to hear about an opportunity again.

Are You Grant Ready?

Before you apply, ask yourself these six questions.

The right grant for the wrong project is a waste of everyone’s time. The businesses that win funding are the ones that are ready before they start looking.

Work through these before you apply:

Project Clarity – Is your project clearly defined and aligned with your business plan?

Project Delivery – Do you have a realistic methodology, timeline and key milestones mapped out?

Project Leadership – Is there someone with the skills and experience to lead and deliver this?

Project Scope – Are your activities, outputs and budget clearly defined and realistically planned?

Project Readiness – Do you have budgets, designs, approvals and quotes in place?

Project Stakeholders – Do you have support from partners, demonstrated through letters or endorsements?

If you can answer yes to all six, you’re in good shape. If not, that’s exactly what a conversation with our team is for.

Finding The Right Fit

The Right Grant is the one your project is best aligned with.

One of the most common mistakes we see is trying to fit a project into a grant it was never meant for. Before you invest time in an application, understand what the grant is actually trying to achieve. Is it about creating jobs? Lowering emissions? Buying equipment? Growing exports?

If the purpose isn’t clear, research the funding body – or call them. Once you’ve found grants with the right alignment, check the eligibility criteria carefully:

Who is the grant open to? Are you in the right region? What can the funds be spent on? What are the matching funding requirements?

If anything is unclear, ask. Funding bodies would rather answer a question upfront than receive an ineligible application.

How We Can Help

You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Our team works alongside businesses and organisations to help them become grant-ready and put forward their strongest possible case. We can:

  • Review your project against available funding opportunities
  • Provide letters of support for your application
  • Undertake economic modelling to demonstrate community and regional impact (often required for larger grants)
  • Connect you with experienced grant writers who know our region

For large or complex applications, we can point you toward specialist support – or provide it directly.
